Students learn the basics of prudent and efficient lead climbing, and how to provide a solid lead belay. Successful graduates must pass a lead climbing and  lead belaying test to earn certification. Solid lead climbing fundamentals, lead belay tactics, and the ability to catch an unanticipated lead fall must be demonstrated on multiple routes selected by the tester. This is a two part class.

Prerequisites:

• Participants have previously received a top rope belay certification at Alaska Rock Gym prior to taking the Learn to Lead class.
• Minimum age 16 years old
• Must be able to comfortably climb 5.10 in the gym
